Silent Offering - Original Pen and Ink
About The Work:
Silent Offering was created in response to a Digital Originals Creation Swap I participated in through Manitoba Arts Network. My collaboration partner was Raine Hamilton, whose beautiful song Brave Land inspired this artwork with its tempo, lyrics and musical composition. Key words from her lyrics included “never seen a green this green, stepping lightly, walk the earth, lift me to the sky, accept my offerings”. Included in my composition are Manitoba’s healing and edible wild plants including Wood Sorrel, Wild Licorice, Blood Root, Indigo Milk Caps, Bur Oak, Bunchberry, Wild Strawberry, Sarsaparilla, Ginger, Clover, Bees, Lady Beetles, and a Snowy Owl Feather.
My Zenworks express my love of pen and ink and a desire to poetically meld the abstract with imagery created through spontaneous strokes and repeating patterns. Zenworks emerge via a tranquil, meditative process that frees me to explore and experiment with line, shape and colour.
