Greeting The Sun - Original Collage
About The Work:
There is nothing like the optimism of Greeting The Sun each morning when waking to a bright, sunny day filled with the buzz and movement of mother earth's creatures going about their lives. The sun symbolizes power, growth, health, passion and the cycle of life. It is revered because of its ability to create life, making crops grow to sustain and feed us. It also represents the cycle of life because it rises over the horizon at dawn marking the beginning of life each day, setting each evening to give the night its inky, starlight turn to rule the sky.
I enjoy experimenting with gelli-plate printmaking using acrylic paints, stencils and other textured items to create interesting patterns and colours on thin papers suitable for collage. I then draw my design, select a variety of the resulting prints, cut them up and collage the pieces onto paper to create visual images such as this.
