Let it Snow
Winter just arrived in a flurry of white - drifting snow kissing our windows with painterly designs. Meantime I find contentment hibernating indoors, down in my studio, working on a variety of in progress projects.
And it is also going to be a very busy next few weeks:
AGSM Gala of Gifts - December 7th
I am once again taking part in the Art Gallery of Southwestern Manitoba (AGSM)'s annual Gala of Gifts on December 7th. More than just a craft and art sale, this Brandon holiday tradition features original handmade art and products from local artists and artisans from Brandon and beyond. The AGSM galleries and studio spaces will be transformed into a nostalgic holiday winterscape with tables of artist and artisan handcrafted items, live entertainment, Santa’s Workshop with activities for families and children, a gift wrapping station, a raffle table with loads of prizes, and food and drink to enjoy! I will have a table displaying a variety of my handcrafted wares including original artwork for smaller spaces, wearable art for that unique look, plus more! AGSM is located at 710 Rosser Avenue, Unit 2, with a rear parkade entrance along Princess off 8th.
Violet Bees in my Studio
"Where have all the flowers gone? Violet bees are on the wing, scouting for a bloom of green. No luck so far, and so they go with rising sun, ever hopeful this new day, buzzing over concrete jungle, questing for blossom scent on the breeze." The Quest and it's companion works are mixed media collage works inspired by my first sighting of big, beautiful violet carpenter bees at the memorable Art-Toscana northern Tuscany, Italy creative retreat I attended in September.
AGSM Members Show and Sale - December 12th through January 11th
I’ve entered three of these original bee-works in the upcoming AGSM's member show and sale. The opening reception is 7pm December 12th and there will be an amazing variety of work exhibited by the members. I can't wait to view all the gorgeous creative work that will be there. UBUD Bali Linocut Retreat - January 4th through 11th
Gratitude plus!!! I am so fortunate I will be participating again in this incredible creative UBUD Bali Linocut Retreat - a rewarding printmaking experience upcoming in January 2025 with Australian printmaker and instructor Shana James! The one I attended in 2019 was so memorable I had to have a repeat. There is one spot still left, see you in Bali?
