Stimulus / Response
“In Stimulus / Response, ten women artists of the Prairies respond to ten published works by women writers of the Prairies. The Result is a complex, thoughtful exhibition that is both personal and testimonial. In painting, drawing, assemblage, sculpture, textile, ceramic and print, themes of isolation, survival, connection and legacy emerge, united by landscape. The Drawn Together Collective is comprised of women artists working in the Westman region and rural Manitoba. For over a decade they have met monthly to support, critique, share and inspire one another as they navigate their own art practices.” ~ Lucie Lederhendler, Curator, AGSM
It has been an exciting few months for me preparing for and participating in the Drawn Together Collective’s exhibition at the Art Gallery of Southwestern Manitoba in Brandon. It is really incredible to see all the work our group has done over the past couple years come together with over 150 artworks being exhibited in one amazing space. A huge thank-you to AGSM's curator Lucie and her team for all their work in presenting our pieces in their best light.
The April 13th opening reception was really well attended - I am very grateful for all who have taken the time to view our exhibition. Also, on April 14th we participated in a lunch and look artist tour of the show and each of us artists spoke with the public about our work and the inspiration for our creation. The AGSM video’d this event and here is the link should you wish to view it. I speak for 18 minutes and am about 40.35 minutes into the recording. Click here to access the video.
